Over the summer months, I tend to wear less items fishing. This year I decided to retire my backpack/chestpack combo and join the minimalist train. I love the backpack chestpack combo for hike-in or multiple day camping trips but finally decided its overkill for a day or afternoon. Which led me to buy a Fishpond Arroyo lumbar pack (shown above). Sticking with Fishpond’s values its made from recycled fishing nets (a plus for the environment) and is light weight. I used it for the first time camping on the current river and found everything easily accessible and most importantly quick to locate. There are multiple compartments for floatant, bobbers, and leaders, along with a fly pad in the very front packet. It can also be used as a chestpack or lumbar.

Sweet bag for around $60.
